The 2023 KBO League game between the Hanwha Eagles and Doosan Bears was held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Hanwha's Oh Sun-jin leads off the seventh inning with a single to right field.

After letting go of Ahn Chi-hong, the Lotte Giants brought in Oh Sun-jin (Hanwha Eagles) and Choi Hang (SSG Landers) in the second round of the draft.

Lotte selected Oh Sun-jin and Choi Hang in the second and third rounds, respectively, in the second round of the draft held on April 22. The transfer fees owed to their respective clubs are 300 million won and 200 million won, respectively. It did not exercise its first-round pick.

Lotte released second baseman Ahn Chi-hong as a free agent on April 20. Hanwha signed Ahn for up to six years and 7.2 billion won. Lotte, which had previously locked up Jeon Jun-woo for up to four years and 4.7 billion won, was forced to lose out to Hanwha in the "money fight.

Lotte knew that it would be difficult to hold on to Ahn, but once the move was finalized, they had to figure out how to fill the void. They had quite a few power infield options in the second round of the draft, so they had to think strategically.

Lotte chose Oh Sun-jin and Choi Hang.

Oh is a shortstop who can also play second base. He has a career batting average of .241, but has proven his defense. He is in his mid-30s and has played 1109 games in his career. After hitting .276 in 100 games last year, he is back in the organization a year after becoming a free agent and returning to his hometown team Hanwha. 토토

Choi Hang, a 12-year pro, is a second baseman with a .273 batting average in 304 career games. After hitting a career-high .293 in 98 games in 2018, Choi has appeared in just 21 games (35 at-bats) this season.

Lotte filled the void left by Ahn Chi-hong with Oh Seon-jin and Choi Hang to put out the immediate fire. They will also try to compete with Park Seung-wook through internal resources.

The secondary draft was revived after a four-year hiatus following the 2019 draft. Each team can select its own players, developmental players, military reserves, and developmental military reserves, excluding the 35 protected players of the other nine teams. Players in their first through third years of pro ball, free agents (including returning overseas free agents), and foreign players are not eligible. Players selected in the second round of the draft are non-transferable for one year. First-round picks must register for at least 50 days and second-rounders for at least 30 days.
